Station Master Tama’s Train Commence Service

Submitted by Alafista on Sunday, 22 March 20092 Comments

Last month, we took a sneak peek at Station Master Tama’s train. Now the train has commenced service and it seems to be very popular with the Japanese parents who are bringing their kids to check out the ride..

Local residents and railway fans flocked to Idakiso Station in Wakayama for Saturday’s launch of the two-car Tama Train. The train, which departed from Idakiso Station at 3:57 p.m., ran the eight or so kilometers to Wakayama Station, with Tama aboard in the driver’s cabin.

The train is adorned with 101 types of illustrations of Tama. Over 10 million yen was donated for its renovation.

There is also the small Tama Library on the train, where a collection of cat photo books is available.

Is this like a crazy persons train, perhaps a spinsters only train? In my opinion there was only 1 good form of public transport shaped/themed like a cat and that was the cat-bus thing in My Neighbour Totoro

Dam that was an awesome film
