Japanese folks who are working full-time at Sony would be immensely disappointed to know that they wouldn’t be getting any salary for an entire year. This is after Sony Corp. announced on Thursday that it will impose a salary freeze on its full-time workers in Japan for one year to cut costs.

The salary freeze will be effective from April, and Sony’s managers with non-board posts will be also take a 35-40 percent cut in their annual bonuses for the fiscal year starting next month.
Sony has said it is slashing 8,000 of its 185,000 jobs around the world and shutter five or six plants — about 10 percent of its 57 factories. It is also trimming another 8,000 temporary workers who aren’t included in the global work force tally.

I wonder how it feels like to be working hard for the year and not getting paid any pay increment at all. The workers would probably lose incentives to work hard and come up with new products.

I thought a salary freeze was that your salary would remain constant, not that you wouldn’t be getting paid at all.
This is the end of Sony in my opinion. People are gonna quit so hard a new universe is gonna be created somehow. Well i would quit coz i’d be all like:
“Finally its pay day!” – Me
“… No” – Boss
*BOOM* – Universe Creation!
You might be reading that salary freeze part wrong. I would assume that it would mean no pay increases or bonuses not nobody is getting paid for a year.
Come to think of it – you might be correct! Silly me. I was probably half-awake when reading the article.
