Faithful Devotee Steals Buddha Statue Home To Worship

Some faithful devotees go all  the way out for their religion. This corporate manager was arrested Monday on suspicion of stealing a wooden statue of a multiheaded deity from a Kyoto temple in January. Police have recovered the statue, also seized 21 more Buddhist statues from the suspect home when they raided his house.

Police are now investigating if Abe was involved in a series of thefts of Buddhist statues in Kyoto since last year. Admitting to the charge, Abe was quoted as telling the police, ‘‘

I brought home the statue out of my faith, and I worshiped it every day.
