Summer Wars [サマーウォーズ] Scheduled for 2009
Fans of Mamoru Hosoda, the director behind Toki o Kakeru Shōjo, will be pleased to know that his latest work Summer Wars [サマーウォーズ] will be released in Japan in Summer 2009.
The story revolves around a modern-day family that embarks on a midsummer adventure together at the behest of a 90-year-old woman.
The film is being produced by animation studio Madhouse. The rest of the cast include: Satoko Okudera (Toki o Kakeru Shōjo, Miyori no Mori) who is writing the screenplay, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Evangelion, Toki o Kakeru Shōjo, FLCL) who is working on character designs, and Youji Takeshige (Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle) who will oversee the art direction.
