A senior officer who once headed the anti drink-driving campaign had been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in Ibaraki Prefecture earlier in the month. 
Koji Hidaka, a 50-year-old former superintendent at the Tokyo police department’s Administration Bureau, was sacked after admitting to the allegation.
The Community Police Affairs Bureau of the MPD said in a release, ‘‘It was an abominable act for a police officer and we delivered a strict punishment.’’
