Robber Flees Store After Female Employee Beats Him

Submitted by Alafista on Thursday, 28 August 20086 Comments

Remember the Dustpan VS Bokutō story? Now here’s another similar story but this time the robber and the convenience store employee are evenly matched.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Tuesday, two female part-time workers at the Poplar Saga-Yamato outlet in Saga were putting bread on a shelf when a young man approached them, local police said. He threatened them with a knife and demanded money.

One of the workers, a 51-year-old woman, shouted at him, “People like you are ruining society!”

She then grabbed a kitchen knife in the store and hit the robber with the back of it several times.

The man fled the scene empty handed and the two workers were not injured. No customers were in the store at the time.

The robber was about 160 centimeters tall and appeared to be in his 20s, the two workers were quoted as telling investigators.

Despite the woman’s heroics, local police have urged the public not to grapple with robbers as it is dangerous. “Please don’t strike back at robbers, but instead alert us,” a police spokesman said.
