Soon junior high school kids in Japan will find themselves having to take up compulsory budō (training) in school and maybe enjoy the fun of beating up kids they didn’t like in class. =P

This is a new system that will be implemented by 2009 and its main aim is to promote and instill the honorable samurai spirit in these young kids.
So kids will soon be able to beat up one another with sticks or shoot arrows at their teaches.

Does that mean soon all the kids will be having duels during recess time?

They need master the art of common sense…
our schools in england, they let things go, such as the fag system, physical punishment, religious aspects, japanese schools are regressing LOL i can just imagine, ” well done class, u have graduated! but! theres one more test, everyone grab a partner! ……..now slay each other, those who survive will get the oportunity to enter the real world” ……………….. thats right! ive been watching azumi!
Seems to me this will just provide training which will make it easier to kill people. Bad idea. It’ll be Akihabara all over again and I don’t want to see that.
Sounds pretty fun, I would like to take it if it was offered at my school, but I live in the USA…
Bushido isn’t sword fighting. It’s the way of the sword circled around 7 principals of the samurai code. So technically it will not teach kids to kill at all, but rather become an honorable person who will respect people.
