Its finally confirmed! A new Fullmetal Alchemist anime series has been confirmed to be in the works.

The piece of news has been confirmed on the wraparound jacket band found on the latest volume of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga.
Fanboys and fangirls have been speculating about it when last month when a management document was purportedly leaked from the BONES anime studio. The document listed Fullmetal Alchemist animator Yasuhiro Irie as “Hagane 2 kantoku” (Iron/Fullmetal 2 director).
While BONES denied the existence of the docment then, it seems like they just were prepared for the news to be leaked out so early.

Wohooo I can’t wait for more of this awesome series.

i thaught the first series was rubbish…toooo childish, didnt like the designs either, all it has going for it was the fantastic ending theme, i for one wont be watching this series.
a new FMA…………
how can they continue the story, if it was ended in the movie?
I don’t know how their doing it.
I would like to see some official stuff on it.
Unless this is like a remake of the manga.
Well I’m not sure how they’re going to make a new series. I’ve heard rumors, though. One that I heard was that it would be a continuation from after the movie… but that wouldn’t make sense because they’re not in Amestris anymore. Another rumor was that it would be a sort of anime version of the manga, since the two went in entirely different directions. Anyway, I don’t know much about this but I for one am excited!
You Moron.
They’re not rumors for God’s sake. I’m tired of these newbies that enjoy talking just for talking and not knowing a thing.
Let’s see, Hiromu Arakawa THE MANGA ARTIST, HAS CONFIRMED ON VOLUME 20 THAT THERE WILL BE A CONTINUATION TO FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST.
Anyone that has seen the film Conqueror of Shambala, would know that, at the end of the movie, the gate to Amestris is still OPEN. Ed says that they will close that gate, however in Earth, for them, it would be more difficult, so they will close the door AFTER they get rid of the Uranium bomb.
Making an adaptation of the manga as it goes today would be a mistake, because the history can no longer be connected to the manga. Maybe the solution is to take the animated series at the point when Ed first mets homunculus and re-joining then with the manga, but that would be hardwork direct to trash.
SO, KNOWING THAT THE NEW ANIMATED SERIES FROM FMA ARE CONFIRMED BY THE MANGA ARTIST, it’s most likely the story would tell the Ed and Al search for a way to close the gate, and, probably, how to close it staying in Amestris.
You people use your brains a little. It doesn’t hurt.
Well, I am looking forward to it anyway cause I really like the fma series. Though the movie wasn’t the best move they did make.
Woot!! This be very good news!
I shall eagerly wait for this.
@Dee,
Childish?! Whaaaat?
@Fou Luz,
Hey dude. I understand that you’re frustrated, but you could’ve just told us nicely. ^^;
Well, I don’t still see why they can’t rejoin the manga. I know that some things are missing, but I still think they could put a few characters in there.
And I have never seen an anime that has continued from where the movie started. That is unless I am blind.
I also heard that they were making another movie at an anime convention, but I don’t know if this is confirmed.
otaku dan, it is said that this time the story eill follow more the manga than the first. well, hope it desrves waiting
i dn’t care how they do it…but…THEY”RE MAKING ANOTHER SERIES!!!!!!! i like, almost passed out when i saw this
@dee: i totally disagree with you, i would even go as far as saying the anime was very dark an depressing ( e.g. the scientist who combine his daughter and his dog , that rrllly disturbed me
anyways, combining anime and manga is not possible. this project should be a complete remake following the manga, why? because at the end of the movie al has his body back, the main evil is dead and even if the manage to get back to amestris theres nothing to do…just simple as that.
Ok people, I’d like to clear something up. It has been conformed by Hiromu Arakawa herself that this new series will be following the original manga storyline, which we should all know differs greatly from the storyline created for the anime version. Of course, if the new series will follow the manga’s plot, there will be some repetitive sections in the beginning, which was kept fairly the same for the anime and manga. I’m not sure if that will be kept, but seeing as this section holds such key parts to the plot and the introduction to the Entire series, it will most likely be kept.
The idea of continuing the anime plot further can probably be dismissed at this point, seeing as the movie was meant to be the final part of that plot (not counting the OVA’s which are merely for the audience’s enjoyment and don’t really pertain to the series).
Please note that a majority of this comment is my own opinion, so it might come out to be that I’m completely wrong about this subject, which I won’t too surprised to find out some day.
I might as well stop now or i risk going on forever on a Fullmetal rant, but I hope this might clear up some confusion. ~psqueak
From what I know they will start over and follow the manga to 100% which I think is awesome!
As far as I know they will not try ” re-connect” with the first anime series, I do not see how they could as there are to many things that differ even from the very start. Archer for one, was a character made up only for the series, right? And we do not even know that voice actors they will use.
