After 5 weeks of topping the box office sales, Hayao Miyazaki’s Ponyo on the Cliff has raked in over 10 billion yen in ticket sales and attacted more than more than 8.4 million viewers to the theaters.

Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke (1997), Spirited Away (2001), and Howl’s Moving Castle (2004) earned their first 10 billion yen in 43, 25, and 33 days, respectively.
