Escalator Disaster At Wonder Festival

Saw this accident on last night news, there was an accident at Wonder Festival at Tokyo Big Sight. The escalator that many otaku folks were riding on suddenly stopped and moved in the reversed direction, resulting in many falling back down.

The Tokyo Police believed that the escalator was overloaded; later reports said that many steps were carrying three or four people.

The 16 meters tall escalator had moved 70 percent up and was carrying approximately 120 people riding the escalator at the time.

I bet it must have been scary for the folks standing right at the bottom and seeing people just tumble right down.

But since its WanFesu, I’m sure even the injured folks would rather continue queuing for their limited prized figures than head to the hospital for treatment.
