Pokemon Bullet Train

Its now summer holidays for school kids and East Japan Railway Co. (JR East) has began running a fleet of bullet trains decorated with Pokemon characters.

One 7 year old was really happy when he boarded the train to Iwate Prefecture with his family:

I was surprised to see Pikachu, but I really like the character so I’m happy. It’s a cool bullet train.

JR East is operating four decorated trains on the Tohoku and Joetsu Shinkansen lines and one on each of the Yamagata, Akita and Nagano Shinkansen lines.

The trains are part of a joint campaign with All Nippon Airways, which also operates planes bearing the character. The trains will continue to operate until Sept. 15.

Darn, school kids in Japan are really lucky. They should have similar otaku-themed trains running when there are events such as Comiket or WonderFestival.
