Cop Tried Covering Up His Blunder Over Burning Man

Submitted by Alafista on Friday, 4 July 2008One Comment

Remember the previous blog posting about this man who burst into flames during police interrogation?

It looks like the stupid police sergeant who gave the kerosene-soaked man a lighter for a cigarette wasn’t that dumb after all.

He tried to cover up his tracks by removing the lighter and an ashtray from the interrogation room and hiding them right after the fatal fire.

“I thought it would not look good if it turned out that we let the man smoke inside the interrogation room, as smoking is prohibited”

The three policemen told investigators that they didn’t see how the fire started, but a police experiment proved that clothes would not catch fire from a cigarette flame alone. Aichi Prefectural Police have determined that Kubota’s clothes caught fire directly from the lighter.

Yeah Sergeant I’m sure after a man burning up in your interrogation room, the next thing you are afraid of is the press finding out that he was actually allowed to smoke. LOL

Such a lame excuse. I think the man should have burned the sergeant instead.
