900+ Apply To Become Japanese Astronaut

I was always fascinated by the universe, stars and planet, and at one time in my youth, I yearn to be an astronaut.

Many Apply To Become Japanese Astronaut

This year, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) opened their doors for the first time in 10 years and began accepting applications.

And it looks like there are many astronaut wannabe out there because a total of 963 people applied for the job.

“Astronauts Takao Doi and Akihiko Hoshide both traveled consecutively on the U.S. space shuttle this year, and that probably caused interest to rise,” a JAXA representative said.

A total of 839 men and 124 women applied. Nearly 70 percent of them were aged between 30 and 40.

I wonder if the news about the Takao Doi going into space and sucessfully throwing a boomerang has anything to do with this craze.

FINALLY, WE CAN BEGIN COLONIZATION OF OTHER STAR SYSTEMS ALA MACROSS.

On a side note, I wanted to be one too, alafista, seems like it was almost every child’s dream to explore the final frontier. ^^

@Dee I rather have osaka driving the shuttle than yukari-chan hurhur

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

It’s gonna take awhile to sort out the good applicants.
I wanted to be an astronaut at one point too. (I still want to go to space one day)
