Here’s another interesting poll by oricon: 500 men aged 20-59 were asked which is the ideal jobs that they hope for their children to have in the future.

Seems like working for the government is a popular option. Dads want both sons and daughter to hold a position as a civil servant.
So here’s the list of ideal jobs for sons:
01: Civil Servants
02: Doctors
03: Lawyers
04: Officer Workers
05: Whatever job the son enjoys
So here’s the list of ideal jobs for daughters:
01: Civil Servants
02: Nurses
03: Pharmacists
04: Teachers
05: Whatever job the daughter enjoys

Looks like I have the ideal job since I’m working in the public sector. Anyway for those that are interested, I’m working in the Policy & Research Branch for Singapore Customs. I must say the job scope is pretty interesting.
So what is your opinion of working as a civil servant? Or would you rather work in the private sector?

If you’re mercenary (like me), private sector usually gives u a better bet for fat bonuses. But of course, your company has to be a successful one, or you WILL get downsized (the directors go first). Public sector is usually more stable.
From what I’ve heard, public sector success relies more on educational qualifications than plain guile as used in the private sector. Any opinions on this?
when i give a cv in at a job=
“occupation,student”……..CV in bin……… thats m right there…. rofl……
alafista, ur job sound sbloody interesting, do u get bussiness trips?? =D
I fit in option 5 – video game developer. Better treat me well, or I’ll tune your game so difficult, you’ll wish you were playing an 80′s arcade game instead. muahahaha.
An evil game developer? Never heard of one. I also fit under option 5 – graphic designer.
Civil service is nice but it doesn’t pay the bills. I would rather have a good paying job and do volunteer work on the side.
I don’t think working as a civil servant would be too bad. It’s not the most glamorous job but it beats part-time work. I’d rather work in the private sector though.
