Here’s an interesting statistic – Japan leads other first world nations in annual tissue paper consumption.

This graph was featured on a TV show and the program noted that Japanese people probably use tissues a lot when cleaning.
In additon, they also mentioned all the free tissues passed out with advertisements at train stations.

Looks like Japanese really love their tissues. So how many boxes do you think you consume each year?

I totally agree with this. My wife is part Japanese and she must go through one entire toilet roll in the bathroom in less than 2 days.
All that tissue use must come from the amount of good H-manga and eroge over there.
@ yamcha :ROFL! good call!
well i heard they hand out alot of tissues on the street, like freebies uno?
My guess is more of the free tissue packs than actual consumption.
Then again, maybe tissue packs are given away as consolation prizes because they like to use them so much. Hm.
Linked to the declining birthrate perhaps…?
@ Duke of Yashima: Wow a roll in 2 days is pretty quick.
@ Yamcha: Hehe must be. But then otakus only account for one proportion. What about the other Japanese.
@ Dee: Yup the hand out tissues as a form of advertising.
@ Crisu: Your guess maybe makes sense, people often use so much tissue because they are given free packs everyday.
@ DS: Hmmm .. might have a correlation. LOL
@Yamcha, LOL. Exactly what I was thinking XD
