School Girl Hangs Self After Blog Comment Tells Her To Die

Here’s a sad news story – A high school hanged herself at her home after a comment was left on her blog telling her to die.

A suicide note she left for her family said that a message telling her to die had been posted on her personal blog.

Looks like ijime (schoolyard bullying) can take place online too. But its just unfortunate that the girl took the message too seriously.

  1. No offense, but if she was willing to do it for a blog entry, it probably would’ve ended up happening for any number of different reasons, had she been stopped.

A classic example of being ignored. She needed help and didn’t get it. Sucks. And quite a lot at that.

I think there was something like this on myspace to…
Ugh I don’t get why anyone would post a negative comment on someones blog
I mean they have blogs to express their views on things their opinions
I or anybody else in that matter have no right to get angry at them for having an opinion

but I wonder if there was tension before the comment?
or if the post or blog itself was very mean in general like it talked about racial or religious topics
and the commenter just felt strongly offended :/

This is very reminiscent of the Megan Meier case. If you look at the original article, it goes into more detail about things before her death, particularly bullying. They’re still investigating but I’m pretty sure that they’ll find several instances of this from her classmates.

    that’s sad news indeed. :-(

swaying a bit off topic here but whenever we get news reports of british soldiers dying my mum alsways said “oh thats just aweful, i feel so sorry for them”, i dont see it that way cos they signed up for the military, the death risk is sorta there uno?

This sort of story, i dont really feel remorse for the person either, i guess i find it hard to relate to news articles, either that or the media has glorified death to a point where i dont give a damn.

thats not to say i dont think its sad, cos it is. but its interesting too…

    Simply tragic.

i agree 100% with MizuhoChan, its obvious she wasnt exactly in everyones eyeline so she did summin drastic and stupid. I think what i find more tragic is the fact that there is a picture to suit the article.

I would like to see what kind of blog comment that made her decided to attempt suicide.. What kind of wording was used and the content itself..

  9. Aikyrie says:

A lot of things probably led up to her suicide. As stupid as it is to do what a comment tells to do, its just as sad.

The parents should hang themselves for allowing this….This kind of things happens because they dont have adult supervision. At least the parents should have put some filters on the girl`s blog, like “die”, and swear, etc….lack of commnucation drive to this kind of situation. I just hope the girl`s soul can be at peace.

The world is just becoming insane….

Its terribly sad. Throughout all human history, there’ll never be another her. Everybody’s unique & no 2 people’re alike. I’d like to’ve known her & had her as a friend. She had so much love to give to the world & receive from it. Just think what she might’ve become, possibly a great doctor, or scientist, or rock & roll star. If only she’d had a boyfriend to console her, cuddle her, & give her a shoulder to cry on. She will be sadly missed by her friends. The writer of teh comment that killed her’ll have to live with the sadness & shame of it for the rest of their lives
