Crazy Otaku Queues for Touhou Hisouten

Yesterday, Touhou Hisouten went on sale in Akihabara and there were insanely long queues outside many of the stores.

Every year Reitaisai is held for Team Shanghai Alice to distribute the Touhou games.

Here’s a look at the roster of Scarlet Weather Rhapsody:

Just look at the long long queues of otakus hungering for the game.

Stores like Toranoana had to restrict access just because there were too many otakus. LOL

It is freaking amazing the amount of buzz surrounding the Touhou franchise. Even more amazing is the fact that ZUN is able to remain generous and is alright with some free beers and not collect a dime of royalty.

It’s like the Japanese version of a micro-GTA4 launch. Of course it won’t sell a gazillion copies, but the sheer amount of doujin content revolving on Touhou (which is in itself a douijin) makes my head asplode. It has somewhat dethroned Tsukihime and Higurashi in terms of mindshare.

I want that! LOL! If I were in Japan, I think I might’ve been one of those otaku queuing up.
