This 2.54 meter tall status depicts a boy “ejaculating in lasso-like form.” o.O WTF

In fact it has a female companion, Hiropon.

While I kinda understand this is art, but personally I still don’t understand why would people pay millions of dollars to buy this kind of art?!

With that kind of money, I can get Alter or GSC to make me an awesome Haurhi 1:1 figure or something.

Man, you just don’t get Takashi Murakami or the art world!

Neither do I. The high prices this and Hiropon fetched baffle me completely. Most art in the Art World qualifies as “Art” simply because the artist says it is art, and can BS enough pages proving that it is art to satisfy any committee. It’s all Duchamp’s fault, I think.

I don’t know what to say. That’s pretty creepy. The lasso alone is enough to turn me away….

I want to know how that all stays suspended in the air without support.

I mentioned this elsewhere, but it’s worth repeating:

There’s a common misconception about art that fetches millions and millions of dollars. The dude who bought it didn’t pay millions because that’s how much it’s worth — the dude bought it because he has $15 million to blow and rich guys like to wave their gold-plated dicks around and if he beat out some other wealthy sucker who was offering only $14 million then that’s even better.

‘Cause I agree; that sculpture’s not WORTH millions of dollars. But it sold for that much because rich blokes like buying expensive things. That’s all, really. It’s not Duchamp’s fault, OGT. It’s the fault of billionaires with questionable taste.

By the way, I got to see this in person too. And it’s pretty great.
