Just read this on Akiba-ch this morning, according to the statistics provided by the Comiket committee, there are actually more females attending Comiket than males otakus.

I always thought any otaku event would largely comprised of males, but as the statistic show, Comiket has 57% female attendees, compared to the 42% males.

Similarly, the circles that participate at the event are also largely comprised of females (71%).

Well I guess comiket is a good venue for fujoshi to get their fix of bishounen boy love doujin materials than anywhere else.

Another probable contributing factor would be that there are more females cosplayers at the event as well.

women are starting to take part of the otaku lifestyle and that is great
@otakudan : that’s such a sexist statement!
id like to point out my theory, cosplaying largly sways towards the female popluous, at least thats what it seems like whenever i see japan on TV. wouldnt that explain why so many are female???? just a thaught peeps dont qoute me
This doesn’t surprise me at all, seeing how the origination of Comiket was founded by females. When I attended Comiket69, I was just blown away by the number of females throughout.
Sounds like I need to go to Comiket to find me a girl then
That’s a big difference haha! I really want to go to an Anime convention one day. It would be my first time :X
@Mizunaga – Seconded on your comment. Might get lucky, you never know ^^…
@ otaku dan: Haha I thought they always been taking part of the otaku culture.
@ Soshi: Yeah, take ur yaoi paddle and smack him!
@ Dee: Yeah probably the cosplayers form a large part as well.
@ Adun: Are they are pretty hot female otakus? =P
@ Mizunaga: Agreed!
@ Aikyrie: Hopefully someday I’d get to go to Comiket.
@ lanie-emon: Haha what about being unlucky and ending up with a broken heart?
