Remember on Tuesday I mentioned about the Evangelion 1.0 limited edition DVD set being sweep up by crazed otaku because of the bonus film strip included. Now bids for film strips containing Rei Ayanami on Yahoo! JP auctions are also going for insanely bidding prices.
For instance, this film strip above with Rei standing in the brightly lit moonlight is currently eing auctioned for 51,000 yen (485 USD). In fact this is my favorite scene in the movie, too bad I don’t have 500 USD T_T
But the most expensive bid of them all is this auction with Rei smiling, which cost more than 209,000 yen (2000 USD)!

Would you be willing to part with 2000 USD for a tiny film strip with Rei smiling back at you. I think I’d be happier with the 2000USD in my bank account.
The folks people at Gainax must be laughing all the way to the bank. 5 frames of film strip from one long long long roll of film can generate losta profit from the DVD sets.
I still think though the EVA LE is high in value, the normal edition is still nice with the Rei Cover

Yeah, I noticed those crazy bids on auction.yahoo. I feel tempted to enter the bdding wars and try to get one of those strips. I bought one EVA DVD BOX LE and got myself a film strip where EVA 01 appears in an hangar and Shinji, Misato and Ritsuko appears far away….I was kind of dissapointed because I couldnt get Rei….At my website, you can check the strip I got…
If I had 2000 usd, I would rather be up and off to Japan for a trip instead. Then I’ll try my luck at stealing the 1/1 Rei at the Tokyo Animation center, again. And fail, of course.
