Looks like Code Geass R2 is not performing so well this season and episode 4 is now bordering the bottom of audience viewership charts.

According to DeepParanoia, the viewership for episode 4 only manage 1.4% in the Kantō region and has been decreasing since the show first aired on 6th April.

Maybe Lelouch need to use his geass on audience so that they keep tuning back.

Yeah it’s weird because shit like Torubu or whatever it’s called is even doing better then R2.
It is because Code Geass is plain out boring.
I have a feeling it’s related to this being Golden Week <_<
I’d worry if it doesn’t go back up after the next couple of episodes or so.
It’s a more mature themed show in a more youth oriented timeslot so it’s probably not hitting it’s target demographic as much as the first season.
isnt it a chobits rip off?? (im not sure about what the show is) i know chobits is one of many of the SAME story line lol but meh….gotta compare it to something
I don’t know about mature; complex, certainly, but no more mature than a lot of the other fare out there. Unfortunately, complexity tends to turn off viewers who come for entertainment, which might be part reason why it’s not doing well. Plus as you say the day time slot does it no favours. It simply doesn’t have the draw for the casual viewers and primary school-age children which I imagine would make up most of the Sunday audience.
That said, I agree with flou that Golden Week is the likely explanation for ep 4 ratings being so low. I’ll be surprised if ratings didn’t recover next week to ~2.5%, which is reasonably good for what is essentially a late-night show.
I blame it on it’s new time slot it’s at like 5 isn’t and it’s on a sunday.
I think that during that time you know kids are out people are working and when they finally watch it they just go online and watch a raw version of it.
But no matter if it’s GEASS we’re talking about it’ll recover.
I’m actually not too surprised it’s not doing well.
While Code Geass is a great series (I’m a fan as well), I feel that, since it’s the start of a new season, things aren’t as tense or thrilling as the first season -YET-. I find myself anticipating the series less and less each week as well. It’s a little more on the boring side now, but I believe it’ll buck up as the story develops.
@ Koji Oe: Losta show are doing well, but I’m guessing it has to do with the genre and timing of the show and is target audience.
@ Smoke: It somehow feels less exciting than the 1st season.
@ flou: I thought people would stay at home and watch anime during Golden Week. Or is that just me. =P
@ Camario: I hope they won’t pull the show off if it keeps performing badly.
@ Kaioshin Sama: Yeah that is most probably the reason.
@ Dee: LOL huh?!
@ FF: We’d just have to see if it recovers next week.
@ Hei: You have strong faith in the show. \o/
@ Mizunaga: Maybe soon they will introduce some more new exciting twist into the plot and have us standing by each week hungering for more episodes.
@Alafista, I’m sure they will ^^ At worst, Lelouch will just have to Geass us and make us love the series.. xD
I think it has a Death Note feel and is too mature for grade school kids. I’d agree that anyone below at least grade 7 but more like 8 or 9 would be completely uninterested. Sunday at 5 is a totally gay time slot. For any show. Unless Japan isn’t into that whole Sunday dinner thing. Sure not everyone thinks too much of Sunday day dinner, but I find that maybe the majority of people will be eating with their family around 5-6 on Sunday and not watching TV. Golden Week would be a good excuse, but it doesn’t account for the previous weeks’ lack of veiwers. In Canada, all the anime around that level like Death Note, Bleach, Naruto all show after 10pm. Depending on the channel though. Wow I wonder how many people are just going to not read my post because it’s like a novel?
