Here’s another interesting poll from Oricon. This time they asked 900 men and women which main character of an anime series do they wish to become.
Sun Goku took the top spot with his awesome powers and the mechanic cat Doraemon came in second using his fourth-dimensional pocket.

Its really strange that people want to be Nobita. Why the heck would you wan to be a wimpy character that always get bullied. LOL
If you asked me, I rather be Luffy, sailing the seas with a bunch of close comrades and battling other strong opponents just for a dream to become pirate king.

Everyone should aspire to become Kyon! But really, most of the popular choices are old generic characters. Maybe they don’t see much newer anime for these last 5 years?

Well, I assume they’re asking normal people, not otaku. Hence the majority of choices from old, widely-known, mainstream anime.
@Kresnik: Kyon’s not generic? He’s one of the blandest anime characters I’ve ever seen. If it weren’t for Haruhi instilling some personality in him he would just be making sarcastic quips to himself all the time instead of most of the time. But yeah, wouldn’t be my list. I would want to be a man of honor. Somebody like Reinhard Von Lohengramm or Treize Khushrenada.
i dont think they asked adults…..children maybe, people should be a bit more ambitious like…..guyver lol or….. i dunno ranma….. chose a classic! dont get me wrong, i ADORE haruhi, i had the limited ed boxes all shippd from america! lupin was a good choice, i wanted to be lupin once…when i was 6 years old, then again at 14….i was screwed in the head i think. and i dont consider dragonball a classic cos…well i hate it lol… does anyone know the japanese name for an OLD anime called the legend of the four kings? its about 4 brothers turning into dragons ^_^ it RAWKED! id like to pester manga entertainment to release it on DVD.

Just to clear things up, this poll suvey people aged 10, 20 & 30. So they asked 150 men and women in each age group, which means its a very distributed population sample.
