Meguru Ishii, an artist who provided illustration for the Higurashi no Nakukoro ni has been arrested for indecent acts with an underaged junior high school girl.
Ishii performed indecent acts on a 14-year-old junior high school girl from the Tokyo suburb of Nishitokyo at a hotel in Yokohama on four separate occasions between November and December last year, according to investigators.

Somehow I don’t see how the indecent acts is related to Higurashi at all. Once again the Japanese media just enjoy creating totally unrelated links and trying to make it seem like its the fault of the anime/visual novel.
According to zepy, Ishii Meguru only did some art for Ichijinsha’s novel anthologies, the artist for the official higurashi novels is Tomohi.

Indecent acts with an underaged girl. Does that mean it was mutual?
Isn’t the legal age of consent in japan 14? Unless she pleaded that she was raped or something, but I doubt that was the case.
