Huge Okonomiyaki Eating Contest

Imagine an okonomiyaki that weighs 1kg and measures 30 centimeters wide, how many do you think you can eat?

Well, an okonomiyaki eating contest was held on Wednesday and amazingly a 44 year old housewife managed to eat 5.2 of these large okonomiyaki within an hour. Which means 5.2kg of okonomiyaki!!

Hatsuyo Sugawara, the winner managed to win 550,000 yen in prize money, a solid gold spatula, and the privilege of having the restaurant’s largest okonomiyaki named after her.

The 1kg huge okonomiyaki will be named “Majo Sugawara Yaki” (“Sugawara the Witch”) and will be available at the Yukari chain restaurants around Japan next year.

Here is a video of the event:

I think the okonomiyaki is aptly named, since only scary witches can eat 5kg worth of okonomiyaki. (I think she a man in disguise!)

I wonder how much food she eats at home. o.O
