Garbage Collector Returns 10 Million Yen to Police

Japan is such an fine honest country that a garbage collector who found 10 million yen (100,000 USD) in a discarded pot actually returned it to the police!

Garbage Collector Returns 10 Million Yen to Police

The garbage was collected from the south of Takatsuki, Osaka. Police failed to track down the owner, so they decided to publicly announce the find.

Under the Lost Goods Law, police will store the cash for three months. If the owner cannot be identified within that period, the money will be handed over to the garbage collection firm.

Its either the garbage collector had really good upbringing or his payroll is so good that he decided to send the 10 million yen to the police station.

That reminds me of an incident in Sydney recently where $200 AUS ($220US) was handled to the police. a policewomen actually used that money for a shopping spree. the bad news for her was the Police was conducting an integity test for corruption. So she basically failed this test and so she got fired.
