I can imagine Captain Haddock shouting “Blistering Barnacles!” if he saw the amount of money this piece of Tintin oil painting sold for at an auction.

This 1932 oil painting, executed for the iconic cover of Tintin in America has set a new world record for an original comic work.
It was sold for 1.2 million USD at a Paris auction on Saturday.

While TinTin is not a manga, it was still one of the comic books that I grew up with. I basically have the entire comic laying around somewhere in my house.
Do you think that it would be possible for artworks of Japanese manga, such as the works of Miyazaki or maybe Akira Toriyama fetching such a high price at an auction?

Ten thousand thundering typhoons! 1.2M!?!
the images looks old though, Tintin and Snowy don’t look like themselves. ^^;
haha, typical tinitn, being hunted by anti racism groups in the background there. just reflecting on the story i heard recently where a tintin book was withdrawn due to the fact tintin was being sortof…..racist…….haha, i really dont think they should remove it from shelves cos it shows how racism didnt mean a thing way back when.
uno were not aloud to say “christmas” in england when there are other religions around, we have to say “winterval” FTW!? im not even religious and i cant even exploit people who are by recieving gifts?! WHY!?!
I dont mind all the foriegners in the country (well….to a certain extent) but i cant stand the way the government BEND themselves to make sure that they enjoy themselves by FULLY replicating theyre own country.
