Just came back from the cinema after watching the movie Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone, and I must say I’m really impressed with the film.

Review: Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone

Despite following the same storyline, it was still a very entertaining film with the impressive visual and sounds. The insertion of new CGs were subtle but were ample to make the scenes look stunning.

In particular, Eva Unit 01 looked awesome with parts of its armor glowing in the night during its first fight scene with the third Angel Sachiel.

In addition, Rei also look as beautiful as always, no matter she was under the moonlight or by the pool in her schoolgirl swimsuit.

When the movie seems to follow the original storyline, we did get some additional scenes such as a better peek into the conspiracy behind SEELE.

The only fault I could find with the movie would be that too many details had to be cramped into a single film. Therefore, it might not be that enjoyable for someone who might not have seen the original TV series before.

Overall I’m pleased with the movie and I’m looking forward to Evangelion 2.0, where we will get to see a new character being inserted into the series.
