Cashless Man Took 210,000 Yen Cab Ride

This is a very funny news story. An unemployed man has been arrested for fraud by the police because he took a very long taxi ride from Tokyo to Akita, racking up 210,000 yen of cab fare but didn’t have the money to pay for it.

The reason why he travelled so far?

“I wanted to see a buddy of mine who is currently being held in Akita Prison,” he told the police.

Well now he can not only visit his friend. Maybe he will be spending some quality time with him too. LOL

I wonder how long the ride actually took. I pity the cab driver who drove so far and ended up with nothing.

What was your longest cab ride? How much did it cost?

The furthest I rode on a cab was from one end of singapore to the other end. It only cost like 25SGD which is approximately 2000 yen.

Er you do realise SG cab fares are one of the lowest in the developed world? If you ever have travelled late after midnight from East Coast Park, sent the girl home (it’s only right!) and then got home yourself, you’ll find the cab fare to be more than the cost of a 1/8 PVC figurine :(

Japanese cabs are crazy. Hell, even Japanese road tolls are crazy.

@tj: darn … i never bring girls to the park so late in the night … so I wouldn’t know

And people are complaining about the rises in cab fares… It’s really low compared to other developed places, for example a coupla years back I took a 15 minute trip in Sydney and it would rack up more than twenty dollars in fare… And most of the journey was spent waiting for traffic lights.
Lol however I don’t really take taxis that often. I rather walk home and save the money for that 1/8 PVC XD

I wonder if he just sat in the cab waiting for the police to show up or if he tried to take off and the cabbie drove him to the station.

Most people don’t take a taxi here in Japan because it’s very expensive. And the worse the recession is, the more taxi drivers get free.

Maybe 2000 yen won’t take you that further. At best it should be the distance between two stations. SG taxi is good!
