Anime Virus Spreader Arrested

What would you do if your PC contracted a virus that caused images from CLANNAD to suddenly appear on your screen?

Then you probably have been file-sharing via Winny and gotten the virus there.

A university student who wrote this virus and his two friends are arrested by the Japanese police on suspicion of violating copyright laws in connection with the malicious program, a strain of the Harada virus.

Investigators said that between October and November last year, the university graduate student created a virus that caused images from a popular anime character to appear on the screens of infected computers. He allegedly distributed the virus to an unspecified number of people and violated a copyright on the anime. The other two suspects are accused of distributing this anime through the file-sharing software program Winny.

Computers infected with the strain of the Harada virus in question display a message saying, “You’re already dead. Come here. And apologize to me. If you don’t, this PC will self-destruct.” Files such as music and video files are replaced with photographs of a young man named Harada, and in some cases, the Harada virus deletes system files.

LOL I wonder if the guy enjoyed so CLANNAD so much that he decided to create a virus so everyone’s desktop would have some images of the show.

Digg!
