Music CD Sales Down in Japan
Japan’s music industry may be declining according to the latest article on ITMedia which discusses the falling sales figures for the music industry in 2007. The statistic are published by RIAJ, the Recording Industry Association of Japan.

The total number of music products in terms of CD or DVD have fallen 8% when compared to the previous year with revenue down 4% to 391 billion yen (approx. 3.5 million USD).
In particular, total sales of CDs were down 10% to 2.6 million copies and a 5% revenue drop to 333.3 billion yen.
At this moment, its really hard to conclude anything since the sales figures for music download will only be released at the end of February.
I’m guess this little piece of news in the music industry is very similar to what we witnessed earlier when I reported that “Manga Sales Declines in Japan” but later to see that there isn’t really any decline but a boom instead: “Japan Electronic Manga Boom“.
