Yahoo! JP Helps Out in Suicide Prevention
Seems like the suicide problem is so prevalent in Japan that even Yahoo! Japan has decided to do its part to help out in suicide prevention. The web portal has started listing counseling services at the top of search results for suicide-related keywords and phrases.

When searches are made for words such as “æ»ã«ãŸã„” (I want to die) on Yahoo! Japan’s search engine, the message “Suicide can be prevented” is listed at the top of the search results, with a link to a consultation center.

Do you think this would help out in anyway? I don’t think it will make much of a difference. And if people are already suicidal, why would they still surf the web? To find out the different methods?

yes your absolutely right to find ways to die.
there are suicide “support” groups online that teach you how to kill yourself and if your not bold enough you might want to look for a companion to accompany you in your attempt.
its really dysfunctional.
I think it would help. Like you said, those who are really intending to do it won’t surf the web anyway. Only those who are thinking about the idea but are not really settled on it would seek input from the outside. Having a positive message as the first search hit would help combat the idea, at least I hope so.
