TV Saitama (Teletama) as promised, finally made an official press statement as to why they suspended its broadcast of Kodomo no Jikan. However, the TV station has decided to conveniently cite the recent arrest of this pedophile “superstar” who was an elementary school vice principal in Japan as their main considerations.

For those that didn’t know about it. An elementary school vice principal was arrested on 1st Ocotber, after a police raid on his home unearthed a huge cache of child pornography. He was initially arrested for soliciting sex from an underage 16-year-old, which led the police to uncover his dark secrets – 334 DVDs and photos, school uniforms and other belongings. He had images or movies of over 600 underage girls.

This guy was in fact, a superstar in the pedophile circle, he used the alias Aspirin Snow, In fact he had received payments about 18 million yen (about USD150,000) for submissions made to pedophile publications during the period from 2000 to 2007. He even had a published discussion with one magazine’s managing editor about how to seduce young girls and also wrote a column for another pedophile publication.
(Man this person is really sick!!)
So yesterday, Japanese news had reported that he was dismissed by the Sapporo educational board.
And today, unfortunately, Teletama has decided that this is an very valid reason why they are suspending the broadcast of Kodomo no Jikan. They are doing it “out of consideration for the society.
I understand that there might certainly be some backlash from the public especially by concerned parents with regards to the show. But somehow I’m worried that people might just incorrectly attribute the relation and shift the blame onto the anime.
I’m sure the pedophile did not go out and commit crimes after reading the manga. He was already sick in the head before that. I guess the main reason for his pedophile behavior is more related to my previous article – In Japan, its legal to leer at Lolitas.
As for now, KBS Kyoto and Chiba TV are currently scheduled to air the anime series this Friday and Saturday morning respectively. But I’m thinking that maybe they will also pull out after this official press statement by Teletama.
This is somehow spiraling to become another School Days incident. Certainly another item to add to the list of 2007: A Year of Mishaps in Anime Industry.

anyway, kodomo no jikan had been released.. and you won’t like to see the TV edition.. it’s far to censored till the extent of madness..
