15-Year-Old Boy Arrested for Attacking Father with Ax

Just as Dannychoo was discussing about Violence in Anime and Manga today in relation to the recent event of School days final episode being axed and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai was canceled on Japanese Television. Another teenager has strike out at his father with an axe again!

This is so disturbing. Source of news Mainichi Japan:

TATSUNO, Nagano — A 15-year-old boy was arrested for attacking his father with an ax early Monday, leaving him with severe head injuries, police said.

The boy, a third-year junior high school student, was arrested for attempted murder after he turned himself in to police. Investigators are questioning the boy, whose name is being withheld under the Juvenile Law, over the motives for his crime.

At about 2 a.m., the boy hit his 44-year-old sleeping father in the head with an ax several times at his home in Tatsuno, local police said. When paramedics arrived at the victim’s home, he was bleeding from his head, but was fully conscious. (Mainichi)

I got a important question. How come axes are so readily available in their homes? I don’t seem to have one in mine. Don’t you have to be a hunter or woodsman to be own one.

This is so morbid. Does that mean they are gonna replace more shows with videos of Nice boat and Nice food?!

I hope they don’t make some strange connections to the 2 axing to Kamen Rider Den-O ax form and then take my favorite show off the air as well.

There’s nothing surprising in that. I have several axes, hammers or other murderous tools in my house, mostly used for gardening and stuff, and not for killing people. But I guess the regulations are not the same in all the countries.

i dont have axe.. because.. my house is those high-rised, so we dont have our own garden etc. maybe the government should enforce some law, that axes must be bought within certain means, etc. LOL

I own a cleaver very similar to Rena’s billhook. It’s the only knife that I use for cooking and it’s kept very sharp and shiny, able to chop through bone and watermelons into perfect halves. It was only $4, too.

Well seems like I’m the only one that has never seen an ax readily to be purchased at the mall. =P

japan is getting more and more sado.. i remember few months back where a high school guy beheaded his own mum. and now this 2 incidents. All I would pray for is that, all the murderers aren’t into animes. If they are, it’s truly GG to animes.

Man this getting bleaker and bleaker by the moment. Would be interesting to see what the authority would do next…

An ax is a tool needed by any one who lives outside a city, or who ever ventures into the woods to any real degree.

Incidentally, I can think of many different objects in my home I could kill some one with if I didn’t have an ax, so outlawing axes wouldn’t do much good unless you can also successfully outlaw anything that is or is potentially heavy and/or sharp.

@Tiny: gg indeed and everyone would go hysterical and say that anime/manga are turning ppl into sadistic murderers and it will be like the hot coffee incident in GTA all over again and all this so calle “concerned citizens” would make a huge fuss and all otakus will be branded as murderers. sad thought indeed.=_=

@ Mac: Yeah I think you made a good point. I guess if someone really had the intent to kill, he/she could have used anything (e.g. a copy of Asahi Shimbun) to beat the victim to death.

Attacks like this have been increasing over the years, if I remember correctly? It’s curious to note how there isn’t anything concrete being done to see why kids are attacking each other/their parents…
