Next Japanese Prime Minister is an Manga Otaku

Nicknamed “Rozen Aso”, Taro Aso  is now the leading candidate to take over former prime minister Shinzo Abe after the sudden announcement of Abe’s resignation from office yesterday.

Why am I’m so interested in the Japanese politics? This is because Rozen Aso is a well-known otaku-manga fan. He gotten his nickname because he was once seen reading rozen maiden. In fact, he gave a speech at Akihabara during the 2006 elections.

Whats really interesting now is that ever since word got around of him being the prime candidate to take over Abe, stock prices for manga and anime business related companies has been rising rapidly.

Here’s what I saw on Kirainet.com:
Examples of manga and anime related companies benefiting from “good” political news are: Mandarake, Ghibli, Kodansha, Shueisha, Bandai, Toei animation, Gentousha etc.

Maybe after he takes over, Japan’s flag will change to an SOS-dan logo instead of the red rising sun.

EDIT: I’d think he wouldn’t win since Yasuo Fukuda has announced to be joining in the race as well.
