Recently the buzz has all been around Season 2 of Haruhi announcement in Asahi Shimbun. But has anyone wondered how much it cost KyoAni to place that ad?
Apparently some Japanese guy had ran through the cost simulators for the various big newspaper and found that it cost approximately 39,855,000 yen to place the full page black and white ad in Asahi Shimbun. Thanks to my friend nya-ko for providing the link and information.
Anyway, the rest of the figures are provided below for the various newspaper agencies:
- Yomiuri (largest newspaper circulation), cost 47, 910, 000 yen
- Asahi (2nd largest), cost 39, 855, 000 yen
- Mainichi, approximately 25, 920, 000 yen

Seems like they have a large budget for Season 2 to be doing such extravagant marketing. It does certainly seems like what our eccentric Haruhi-sama would do if she was placed in charge.
Yeah and they can easily get back triple that amount with their current runaway successes
